WebGL Jellyfish

The bell is one parametric surface deformed in the vertex shader: a fast contraction, a slow rebound, and a lag that travels around the rim so no two beats look alike. Two shells carry the anatomy — a wet, glassy outside with caustic light playing over it, and the four gonad horseshoes, stomach and radial canals showing through from inside.

Two hundred short fringe tentacles and four frilled oral arms hang from the live bell on verlet chains; the arms are ruffled ribbons in world space, not screen-facing strips. One pulse engine drives the bell, the thrust and every tentacle, and a faint bioluminescent wave follows each beat from apex to margin.

Bloom, a touch of chromatic fringe, film grain and marine snow lit by the animal itself finish the picture.
